If you're a foodie, this plant is a must!
Makrut lime is mostly cultivated for it leaves, skin, and rind, since the fruit does not produce much juice. The Makrut lime plant produces unique leaves that seem to consist of two parts, with one appearing to grow from the tip of the other. These leaves are frequently used as a key ingredient to add flavor to various Asian dishes, including soups, curries, and fish.
Plant Care
For optimal growth, Kaffir limes thrive in a location that receives full sun, as well as in soil that is both moist and well-drained. When grown indoors, it's important to place the plant near a sunny window to ensure adequate exposure to light. During the growing season, Kaffir lime trees benefit from regular watering and a somewhat humid environment. The plant is sensitive to cold temperatures and should be protected from frost.
Water it deeply in the spring before the leaves begin to sprout, and then once a week during the budding season to maintain the necessary level of moisture in the soil.
When you receive your plant, we suggest amending your soil with coco coir or coco perlite to keep your mix fluffy and make the best environment for the roots to establish and grow healthy.
- Propagation Method: Grafted plant.
- Fertility: Self-fertilizes.
- Temperature Tolerance: Ideal Minimum: 15 C - Minimum Tolerated (briefly): 10 C
