Hi, I'm Cristina!
I'm the founder of Noboa Tropicals, a business that started with a simple idea: bringing a little piece of the tropics into Canadian homes.
What began as my own growing experiment turned into a collection of 70+ tropical fruit trees, a business, and a whole lot of learning along the way.
Today, I'm sharing those experiences to help other tropical fruit lovers grow with more confidence, even when winter has other plans.
A Little Piece of the Tropics
I grew up in the Caribbean, where tropical fruit trees were simply part of everyday life. My grandparents had fruit trees in their backyard and a coconut farm, so being surrounded by tropical plants was something I took for granted.
Fast-forward to life in Canada, where growing a tropical fruit tree isn't quite as simple as planting one in the backyard!
In 2020, I started experimenting with indoor gardening in my Toronto apartment. I wanted to bring back a little of what I'd grown up with.
I had no idea that those experiments would eventually turn into Noboa Tropicals.
From a Few Plants to Noboa Tropicals
What started as a personal hobby slowly grew into something much bigger.
In 2021, I launched Noboa with coco coir products. By 2023, I'd expanded into tropical fruit trees and officially incorporated Noboa Tropicals.
Since then, I've helped gardeners across Canada bring home tropical fruit trees they never imagined they could grow here.
And somewhere along the way, I realized that selling the plants was only part of what I loved. Helping people figure out how to grow them was just as rewarding.
More Than Just Selling Plants
Growing tropical fruit trees where winters get cold comes with its own challenges. I've spent years figuring out grow lights, watering schedules, pest control, and how to keep tropical plants happy indoors—mostly through trial and error.
That's why Noboa Tropicals is more than a plant shop. It's a place to find practical advice, growing guides, and resources to help you grow tropical fruit trees with confidence.
