Also known as Brazilian cherry.
The Grumichama tree has beautiful thick and shiny leave and produces delicate white flowers followed by small, round, dark purple to black berries that are similar in appearance and taste to cherries. The fruit has a sweet and tangy flavor and is often used in jams, jellies, and desserts.
This plant is native to Brazil and is related to the Pitanga.
Plant Care
The Grumichama plant likes moist, rich, and well-draining soil. It is also drought tolerant once the plant is established.
When you receive your plant, we suggest amending your soil with coco coir or coco perlite to keep your mix fluffy and make the best environment for the roots to establish and grow healthy.
- Propagation Method: Grown from seed, produces fruit in 2-3 years.
- Fertility: Self-fertilizes.
- Temperature Tolerance: Ideal Minimum: 15 C - Minimum Tolerated (briefly): 5 C
Shipping
Please note that all plants are trimmed/pruned for shipping. Roots are kept moist with a mixture of coco coir and super-absorbent polymers that can be shaken off for planting.
**Please note that you will need a container and potting soil to pot your plants upon arrival.**
