Cashew plants are low maintenance, so if you're looking for an easy plant to care for, this is it!
Not only does this plant produce the beloved cashew nut, but it also adds a touch of tropical beauty to any outdoor space. With its luscious green leaves and vibrant red/orange fruit, the Cashew plant is sure to be a standout in your garden.
With a super juicy fruit that is a marvel to watch as it grows, this fruit also produces the cashew nut as an add-on. Harvesting the nuts is a fun and rewarding experience, as you crack open the hard shell to reveal the delicious and creamy cashew inside. These nuts are a fantastic source of protein, healthy fats, and antioxidants, making them a nutritious addition to any diet.
Plant Care
Cashew trees needs a minimum of six hours of direct sunlight daily and should be planted in well-draining soil. Once the tree is established, it can withstand moderate drought. However, until then, it should be watered regularly, preferably once or twice a week during the summer months, with thorough watering that reaches the root ball. Reduce watering frequency during the winter months to avoid overwatering.
When you receive your plant, we suggest amending your soil with coco coir or coco perlite to keep your mix fluffy and make the best environment for the roots to establish and grow healthy.
- Propagation Method: Grown from seed, will fruit in 3-4 years.
- Fertility: Self-fertilizes, but better with a second plant (cross-pollination improves fruit set).
- Temperature Tolerance: Ideal Minimum: 18 C - Minimum Tolerated (briefly): 12 C
Shipping
Please note that all plants are trimmed/pruned for shipping. Roots are kept moist with a mixture of coco coir and super-absorbent polymers that can be shaken off for planting.
