Also known as Yellow Star Apple.
Oh my fruity goodness, have you heard of the Abiu? It's part of the Sapota family, which includes other cool cats like the Sapodilla, Mamey Sapote, Canistel, and more. This tree is a once-a-year bloomer that drops massive yellow fruit with a flavor that's like a dreamy caramel vanilla custard.
You can scoop it out with a spoon or mix it in with your favorite treats like ice cream, sorbets, yogurts, or fruit salads. It's also high in nutrients like calcium, phosphorus, and vitamins A and C, making it a healthy option to munch on.
Plant Care
Abiu is not too picky when it comes to soil, as long as it's well-draining and slightly acidic. It thrives in hot and humid areas and needs protection from cool breezes. These trees can be grown in a container and overwintered indoors. But watch out, they're more cold-sensitive than other Pouterias! So, if you want to add some tropical vibes to your yard or home, the Abiu is the way to go.
When you receive your plant, we suggest amending your soil with coco coir or coco perlite to keep your mix fluffy and make the best environment for the roots to establish and grow healthy.
- Propagation Method: Grown from seed, will fruit in 2-4 years
- Fertility: Self-fertilizes
- Temperature Tolerance

Please note that you will need a pot and soil to plant your fruit tree upon arrival.
