The Kahalulu Avocado is a premium avocado variety known for its rich, buttery fruit and outstanding eating quality. The avocados are medium to large with smooth green skin, a small seed, and exceptionally creamy flesh that’s dense, nutty, and deeply flavorful. It is perfect for slicing, mashing, or elevating guacamole to another level. Unlike watery avocados, Kahaluu fruit has a luxurious texture that feels indulgent and satisfying with every bite. If you want an avocado that delivers excellent flavor straight from your own harvest, Kahaluu is a great choice.
Plant Care
Keep in full sunlight daily. Protect it from frost and chilly drafts, as it prefers warm temperatures. Use fast-draining, slightly acidic soil rich in organic matter, particularly in pots. Avocados do not like wet roots so careful not to waterlog the soil, and water when the top inch feels dry. During the growing season (spring and summer), feed with a balanced fertilizer. Prune as needed to maintain shape and remove dead branches.
- Propagation Method: Grafted plant, ready to produce fruit within 3-4 years with proper care.
- Fertility: This is a type B. Type B needs Type A. Having both A and B types nearby dramatically improves pollination and fruit set. Type A: Female in the morning, male in the afternoon of the next day. Type B: Female in the afternoon, male the following morning.
- Harvest: Dec-Feb
- Temperature Tolerance:
- Ideal Minimum: 15 C
- Minimum Tolerated (briefly): 10 C
