Plant Packing & Shipping Process
At Noboa Tropicals, our commitment to delivering the beauty and vibrancy of tropical plants to your doorstep is matched only by our dedication to ensuring they arrive in impeccable condition. We take great care in every step of the shipping process, from preparing the plants for their journey to selecting the optimal shipping methods. Let's take a closer look at how we handle the various aspects of shipping your beloved green companions.
1. Preparing Plants for Shipping:
The journey to your home is a critical phase for our plants. To ensure they arrive healthy and ready to thrive, we meticulously prepare them for shipping. Prior to packing, our plants undergo a delicate balance of trimming and pruning. This allows us to shape the plants and encourage healthier growth, while also reducing their size for more manageable shipping. By trimming and lightly pruning, we guarantee that your plants have the best chance of flourishing upon arrival.
Roots play a pivotal role in a plant's overall health, and we take special care to ensure they remain hydrated and protected during transit. To achieve this, we employ a unique approach. The roots of our plants are packed as bare root, meaning they are devoid of all soil. Instead, we use a mixture of coco coir and super-absorbent polymers to maintain root moisture. This combination retains water, preventing root dehydration without making the plant excessively wet. This mixture can be easily shaken off when it's time for planting, providing an ideal environment for a smooth transition to their new home.
2. Packing Plants with Precision:
Packing is a crucial stage where we strive to safeguard your plants against potential damage and ensure their safe arrival. After the roots are packed with the coco coir and super-absorbent polymer mixture, they are delicately wrapped in a plastic bag. This wrapping serves two purposes: it prevents leaks and keeps the roots consistently moist.
To protect the upper portions of the plants, we take extra steps. Depending on the size of the plant and position of branches, we gather them centrally and secure them using rope or garden tape. This precaution prevents any breakage during transit. Following this, the plants are enclosed in a flexible mesh. This mesh keeps all plant parts in place, reducing the risk of damage from shifting during transportation.
The final layer of protection involves wrapping the mesh-covered plants in a sturdy cardboard sheet. This further stabilizes the plant and minimizes movement within the shipping box. Our thorough packing process ensures that your plant arrives looking just as vibrant and healthy as when it left our nursery.
3. Shipping Method:
Our plants are shipped in long rectangular boxes. Depending on the size of the plants in each order, multiple plants can be shipped together in one box, reducing individual shipping costs.
Shipments are made via Canada Post or UPS. Shipping costs are automatically calculated by the shipper. You will be given several options to choose from during checkout. The choice depends on your preferences and urgency. We will always recommend that you choose the fastest shipping option to protect your plant, but we understand that shipping can be expensive depending on your location and we want to ensure that our customers have options to choose from.
At Noboa Tropicals, the shipping process is a delicate dance of careful preparation, precise packing, and thoughtful shipping methods. We take pride in ensuring that your tropical plants not only survive the journey but also thrive in their new environment. Our commitment to excellence extends from our nursery to your doorstep, where your garden dreams come to life.
4. Prepare for Delivery:
Kindly note that our packing method requires you to have potting soil and a suitable pot on hand for planting your trees upon delivery.
